WHY WOULD CECDFW ADVOCATE FOR INSURANCE ISSUES?

Before starting an animal sanctuary, tackling environmental issues, and becoming a nurse practitioner... I worked for a major healthcare company in their benefits department. Back in 2019, I wrote a comprehensive guide to help patients navigate the most common insurance issues, but I didn’t realize its full potential until now. I’ve since updated it with a more direct, passionate, and unapologetic tone to reflect the urgency of this fight.

I’ve created a guide called “Combating Healthcare Terrorism”—a bold, disruptive resource designed to spark systemic change in how we hold insurance companies accountable. At its core, this guide provides a step-by-step process for reporting every denied claim and prior authorization to state and federal agencies, including state insurance departments, consumer protection agencies, and the Federal Trade Commission.

The idea is simple but revolutionary: If every denial were reported, insurance companies could no longer thrive on the silence and exhaustion of patients. These denials—often deliberate strategies to maximize profits—put patients’ health and lives at risk. My guide equips people with the tools they need to expose these tactics, demand accountability, and ultimately reduce the frequency of denials.

This is more than just a resource; it’s a movement.

The guide is available on Etsy for $1 to help fund CECDFW's work, but it’s free to anyone who needs it and can't donate one dollar.
